A phrase used in connection to Strahd von Zarovich, both by himself and by the cultists in Death House. It could refer to his connection to the curse on the land.

Percy uncovered a few instances of the phrase during his studies in the Baron's library, but there was nothing that directly explained the connection. Each time the phrase was related to Strahd, Barovia, and the curse.

Muriel Vinshaw told us that the druids at Berez used this phrase often. The ghost of the former Burgomaster told us that it was "the reason for everything we see around us."
