Gustav and Elizabeth Durst lived here, and bequeathed all their belongings (including the windmill, Old Bone Grinder) to their two now-dead children, Rose and Thorn. The master of the house fancied himself the servant of Strahd, and had a statue of him in the basement, although Strahd himself seemed disdainful of him. Cultists tried to summon Lorgoth the Decayer, and chanted about "the ancient, the land," here. Walter, Rose, and Thorn are buried in the crypt.

The house is currently being used by Bellerand to grow fungus in a sub-basement that he is digging. Izek Strazni has been staying here since his resurrection.
