The Burgomaster of Valleki, who enforced happiness in the town via his right-hand man, Izek Strazni, until he was killed. He has recently taken to wearing platemail, even around the house, and keeping his large dogs with him at all times. He is currently in hiding after the death of Fiona Wachter. Bellerand has sent Magda to guard him, although they do not like each other.

The Baron lives with his family (his wife, who busies herself with the town's regular festivities, and his son Victor) and staff in their stately manor, which contains a great library that the Baron claims is the largest collection of artifacts in all of Barovia.

He knows very little about the surrounding areas or the history of Barovia, but has given us gold for trophies we have brought him, such as the hags' heads.

He has become good friends with Percy, who has been manipulating the Baron into reliance upon him. Percy has recently dropped his deferential act and begun intimidating him into compliance.

His family's coat of arms is a roaring bear.
