The patriarch of the Durst family, who lived in the house known as Death House and owned the windmill Old Bone Grinder. His wife was Elizabeth Durst, and his children were Rose and Thorn. He considered himself a servant of Strahd, although Strahd seemed disdainful of him. He had an affair with his housekeeper and killed their illegitimate child.
