A Deva who resides in the Abbey of Saint Markovia at Krezk. He arrived at the abbey over a century ago and has not aged a day since.

He appears as a handsome monk in his 20s but speaks as if he is much, much older. He wears brown robes and a holy symbol of the sun around his neck. He says that he has come to the abbey "to serve and lead by divine right," and that he "cannot be corrupted." He is unremittingly polite and kind, even when Percy and Gale attempted to steal from him.

He desires to wed Vasilka to Strahd von Zarovich in an attempt to end the curse on the land. It appears that Vasilka may be one of his creations, and the Belviews, for whom he cares, may be his early experiments. He has spoken of the terrible state that the abbey was in before he arrived, and how pitiable the fate of the monstrous creatures are, so it is also possible that he simply found them that way.

Gale has suggested that he may be the Conjurer that Madame Eva warned us about.
